Where's the motivation... the inspiration

Not much to write about. I am enjoying the change in the weather. I keep buying art supplies for projects I have in mind. Just haven't been able to start the projects. Ideas are one thing, motivation is something completely different. So I have been beating myself up about not being in the studio creating. It will come though, it always does. Until then I will just continue to nurture my creativity with books, magazines, music, and field trips.

Magazine Addiction

I have a magazine addiction, I love them and can't get enough of them. They make me so happy and give me wonderful inspirations and ideas. The only problem is they cost so much. So its a good thing that most of the ones I like come out every other month. I don't like subscriptions either, I like going out on a hunt for my little indulgences. It makes it even sweeter when I find them.
Here are some of my favorites

Flying By

I experienced something new yesterday, an air show. Wow was it cool. I took my dad to fleet week to see the Blue Angels, Redbull stunt team, and other jets. We had great premium box seats so our view was perfect.
So you might say, Shannon what does this have to do with art or creativity? It’s the passion. The passion and dedication these people have. Thousands of hours of practice and knowing how dangerous these stunts are. They have to be passionate about it. That passion is very attractive to me, it inspires and motivates me. So many people go through life with no passion, living mundane, commonplace lives. They never feel that drive that maddening desire for something.

Viva Las Vegas

I feel like I am getting old, Vegas was fun but it just doesn’t do anything for me anymore. I crave experiences that are enriching and have substance. Drinking, gambling and eating just isn’t it. One thing I did appreciate was how beautifully everything was decorated. No detailed was spared from the floor to the ceiling. The decorative arts are something that I feel has been lost. Craftsmanship and attention to detail has been lost with mass production. I am know most of the things I saw were fake but it was still nice to enjoy.
